(Tip of the hat to Dr. Dave at Feed Your ADHD for this one. Dr. Dave tips his own cap to IMAO and The American Thinker and Red State. )
The Obama-created website dedicated to showing where the stimulus money is going, recovery.gov, shows the cost of government pork as of 07/20/2009 at 9:15 am, CDT. If the link mysteriously changes or disappears, The American Thinker has saved the screen shot.
To be brief, this is what recovery.gov shows, at the time of this post publishment.
Funding Amount: $1,191,200
Description of Work/Service performed: 2 POUND FROZEN HAM SLICED

How much pork does a 787 billion dollar stimulus package buy? About 600 tons. This equates to about 1/14 of an ounce of ham (2 grams) on a per capita basis. That's a paper thin slice of "the other white meat". When you think about it that way - the stimulus package really didn't include that much pork.

Update: It appears it didn't take Obama's posse to get a hold of the pork story and the website has been changed. The Sec. of Ag put out a statement blaming the Drudge Report for publishing what was posted on their Obama's website. They maintain that the quantity purchased was 760,000 pound, with a price of about $1.56 a pound. With discount food chains selling this for about half that price, this still is an example of government waste. This guy explains it

Holy crap...I may have been late, WAY late, but I'm top of Google's trending for this one in the blog category, at least for the moment.
