The Minnesota Vikings are off to their best start since 1998. As a life long fan, I've learned to follow the team with a cautious optimism. I don't get too exited when they win and don't fret to much when they lose.

There are plenty of Green Bay Packer fans in Minnesota - most of whom migrated from Wisconsin - that follow their the team with rabidness whether they finish 12-4 or 4-12. The typical Viking fans tends to be more of the fair weather variety. This is one of those years when new Viking fans are coming out of the woodwork, passing themselves off as if they've been longtime loyalists.

This brings us to recent support for a new Vikings stadium brought up by two 2010 Democratic candidates for Governor, House Speaker Margaret Anderson-Kelliher and State Senator John Marty. Kelliher announced last week a plan for a "Purple Ribbon Panel" to explore ideas for a new building a new stadium, essentially one-upping Marty after he mentioned the topic a few days earlier.

As long as the Vikings keep winning, more and more candidates, Republican and Democrats, will begin offering more and more support for the new stadium. In the past, both parties have been opposed to public subsidies for "billionaire owners." Republicans are opposed to creating new taxes to fund a stadium (even though that is exactly what happened with the new Twins stadium that will open next year) and Democrats won't spend tax dollars they'd rather see go to education and social services (even though they spent 25 million in 2006 on the Guthrie Theatre and the University of Minnesota opened a new stadium less than three months ago).

I'm like most in the state who'd like to see a new stadium with the Vikes ... but NO NEW TAXES. Some ideas that have been discussed:

Fund any public subsidies with non-Indian casino revenues. The problem is that Democrats received ~~bribes~~ campaign contributions from the tribes that run Indian casinos in the state, after promising not to allow non-Indian gaming. Also, many Republicans are not keen on the idea of expanding gambling in the state.

Make the stadium part of a larger real estate development which Vikings owner Zygi Wilf would control. Wilf has made his fortune in real estate development. If they find the right location, and the deal is sweetened with state and local tax breaks, this could work
The University of Minnesota Gophers play in the brand new TCF Bank stadium three miles from the Viking's current home, the HHH Metrodome. The Vikings balked at sharing with the U, and the U didn't seem interested in the idea either. The fact that they aren't sharing a stadium boils down to the fact that they don't want to be sharing revenue. This is still a future possibility, but since the U has made TCF Stadium 100% alcohol free, 365 days a year a year, it's much less likely. (Note to the University Board of Regents and President Bob Bruininks: If you sell beer - they will come ... and your ticket and concession revenues go way up)

The Metrodome was built for the Twins and Vikings almost thirty years ago. By the mid 90s' both teams were asking for a new stadium. The Twins wanted to play outdoors and the Vikings wanted to play in a stadium designed around a rectangle, not a semi-circle. Both teams wanted to play in a stadium where they didn't have to share revenues with the other.

In back to back years, the state has subsidized two new major stadiums for the Twins and Gophers. The state of Minnesota started off the year with a 5 billion dollar shortfall in the biannual budget. It seems impossible that in 2010 the Minnesota legislature would find a way to broker a deal for a new stadium for the Vikings, but the 8-1 start has some brought about some unlikely supporters. What if the Vikes win the Super Bowl? What if they don't?

If the Vikings were 5-4 right now, a new stadium deal isn't an issue any candidate would touch. With visions of a championship season, it's amazing how public opinion on the stadium issue changes. Even more amazing is how quickly politicians change their positions in response to the fickleness of public opinion. At the moment expectations for the Vikings are high and if they fall short, their only chance of getting a stadium built in the next ten years will be if they move to Los Angeles. Or, at least threaten to move.

Minneapolis Moonbat for Mayor

The People's Republic of Minneapolis will be re-electing RT Ryback as mayor in a few days. He knows he is going to win and has done little more than set up a website to get re-elected.

To my knowledge, there is no Republican candidate challenging RT in one of America's most liberal cities. The Minnesota GOP doesn't waste much time in the city of moonbats. There are about 10 challenger from parties with names such as "New Dignity Party" and "Is Awesome."

Among the odd assortment of Rybak challengers, the one that stands out the most is John Charles Wilson of the "Edgertonite National Party".

Jacob Wetterling: Twenty Years Missing

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the abduction of Jacob Wetterling, perhaps the greatest unresolved child abduction ever. Living in rural Minnesota, Jacob, his brother and a neighborhood friend were biking home from the store when they encountered an armed man who abducted Jacob. Jacob was never seen again.

In the months that followed, Jacobs parents formed the Jacob Wetterling Foundation, a group that has has nobly promoted awareness of child abduction and advocated for stricter laws to protect children. They also offer support to families of other abducted children.

As the years went by, Jacob's mother Patti, was enticed into running for public office. Patti ran as a Democrat for Congress in 2004 (losing to Mark Kennedy) and 2006 (losing to Michele Bachmann) in Minnesota's right-leaning 6th district.

In some ways, Patti Wetterling is Minnesota's Mother Theresa. She rose up from the horrific experience of losing her son, and has made the safety of children her life's work. When Patti was running for Congress with the message of protecting kids, there was one question she was never willing to answer: How do you feel about the protecting the rights of the unborn?

The Swine Flu

We were told months ago, to use the term H1N1 and not the swine flu. The reason being, according to experts, the threat had nothing to do with exposure to pigs or eating pork.

For the record, I had pork today (pizza sausage), I will have pork tomorrow (stuffed chops), and I will eat pork (breakfast bacon in a late morning omelet) on Sunday. I will not get an H1N1 vaccine unless I happen to go to the doctor and they offer it to me.

For six months the experts have be reassuring us that we need not be worried about pigs. People in countries that slaughtered pigs over fears of H1N1 were ostracized by the American media, because experts said there is no risk from pigs themselves.

Tonight I saw this story on my left-leaning local CBS affiliate. They think some Minnesota pigs may have the H1N1. Experts now say they expected this. Here is the kicker: The experts believe the pigs contracted the H1N1 virus from humans at the Minnesota State Fair in late summer.

My question is: If pigs can get the pig flu from humans, why can't humans get the pig flu from pigs? Isn't that where it started?

Little Bastard

Listening to talk radio earlier today, I heard about the six year old boy on a runaway hot air balloon. I immediately thought of 'something funny' and figured I'd post it on this blog. However, even I have standards. I decided to wait until the kid was found safe, if he wasn't, 'something funny' wouldn't have been funny at all.

So the balloon lands softly. We learn there is no boy aboard when it lands. Then we learn the basket was not attached. Witnesses report seeing something (probably the basket) fall from the balloon. It was reported that the boy's siblings verified that the boy was on the balloon when it took off.

Thankfully, the little bastard was never on the balloon. While the balloon was flying, the little bastard was hiding in the attic. I'm waiting for fingers to start being pointed at the parents, but it wasn't as if mom or dad handed the little bastard the keys to the Oldsmobile and sent him to the local 7-Eleven for a pack of smokes. It could be that the little bastard's siblings helped in orchestrating a hoax. If so, mission accomplished. Now, all those little bastards should be grounded until they turn 18.

As for the 'something funny' ...

Well, it seamed more funny four hours ago.

Note to little bastard's parents: The safe ending to this story was no doubt bittersweet for the mainstream media, as tragedy sells best. 24 hours from now, most of us will learn more about you than we know about our own parents. As you book talk-how appearances make sure they provide you with private jets, limousines, and five-star hotels. Say hello to Oprah for me!

Rewarding efforts instead of results? The Nobel Peace Prize now carries as much significance as the NHL's 'Lady Byng' Trophy.

How about considering leaders whose actions actually lead to peace. Ronald Reagan's efforts won the cold war, but they gave the Nobel to the guy who lost it.

Although Henry Kissinger and Le Duc Tho won the award in 1973, after brokering the Paris Peace Accord, North Vietnam agreed to it only after Richard Nixon bombed the hell out of them with Operation Linebacker II. The Nobel committee never thought to reward Nixon for his efforts in convincing the North Vietnamese to sign on the dotted line.

Nuclear weapons remain a threat, but the biggest threat the world faces on a daily basis is that of terrorism. Has anyone done more to fight world domestic terror than George W. Bush? Bush's efforts have far from eradicated terrorism, but the events of September 11, 2001 have yet to be repeated. It's been eight years, and the Nobel Prize Committee has yet to acknowledge the efforts of GWB. During that time Carter, Gore, and now Obama, have won the award.

Are they rewarding peace or pacifism? Perhaps someone should remind our friends in Norway that without the efforts of peaceful nations willing to go to war, they'd probably be a state ruled by some great German Republic.

Chicago Olympics: Recipe for Corruption

It seems reasonable, since Chicago is the only American city among the finalists, that the President would have a role in lobbying for the 2016 Olympic Summer Games on behalf of his "home state."

Question: When was the last time the Olympics came to the United States?

Answer: 2002, when the Winter Games were held in Salt Lake City.

Remember the Salt Lake Games? They were mired in bribery and scandal beginning in 1998, when it became apparent that those involved in getting an Olympic bid for Salt Lake City had been bribing the decision makers for the right to host the event.

The games went on in Salt Lake City, shadowed by some unpleasant clouds hanging overhead. Fast forward to 2009, and the President is now asking the IOC to trust the United States once again with the honor of hosting the games.

With the not-so-distant memories of Salt Lake City, is it wise ask the IOC to award the 2016 Summer Games to a city that is arguably the most corrupt in the nation. Former Governor Rod Blagojevich has been impeached and removed from office for trying to sell the senate seat that Obama gave up when he was promoted to the White House. His criminal trial will not be held until next year, but Christopher Kelly, a longtime political ally of Blago's has been sentenced to prison on federal corruption charges. Kelly committed suicide about two weeks ago.

Heavy questions loom over the heads of two Illinois members of the United States Congress. Roland Burris was appointed by Blago to fill Obama's vacant senate, after he allegedly had discussed a financial arrangement with Blago. Illinois Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. is also being investigated for his possible negotiations with Blago in filling Obama's seat.

Even if Obama had no involvement Blago and the Senate-appointment illegalities, he does have many ties other other shady Chicago political figures, including Tony Rezko and William Ayers.

Chicago, Olympics, and Obama. It does sound like a recipe for trouble.

Jesus H. Criminy!

Not by choice, I got up early this morning. I turned on the the TV. The CBS Early Morning News was giving a tease about "conservative mouthpiece Glenn Beck" talking with Katie "colonoscopy" Couric.

I had already seen the interview yesterday. Beck handled Katie's persecution well, but I wondered why he agreed to plop down in the hot seat. I also wondered why Katie didn't do an interview with a representative from ACORN.

As far as the tease, why does the mainstream media add the adjective of "conservative" to Beck, but not call lefties like Couric a "liberal"? Couric is so far left of of Dan Rather (who is currently suing CBS over the fact he was "fired" for making sh*t up) that she couldn't hit him with a snowball. Same goes for Keith Olbermann, Dianne Sawyer, David Gregory, and Anderson Cooper. "Liberal" is a term that applies to almost anyone on ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, or PBS. When someone is aligned with FOX news, partisan labels are applied.

That's my rant for the moment. It's a repeat of what people have been asking for 25 years. It's a topic that former CBS correspondent Bernard Goldberg, a Democrat, has written books about.

Mrs. O to the Rescue

At the end of July, Congress went home with the majority of Americans opposing ObamaCare. Democrats were instructed to hold town hall meeting to sell the plan. They failed miserably, and since the day after Labor Day, President Obama has ramped up his push for socialized medicine.

Since Labor Day he's addressed the schools, a joint session of congress, and appeared on 60 Minutes. Coming up, he'll be yapping away on a round of Sunday morning talk shows and chatting with David Letterman on Monday.

The conventional wisdom has been that the First Lady would not become active in ObamaCare for fears of bringing up memories Hillary Clinton universal care debacle, some 15 years ago. Michelle Obama gave a speech today touting socialized medicine to a group of women. Here are a few snippets, with my comments in red.

[Speaking about a trip to the ER for one of their daughters a few years back], "But it is that moment in our lives that flashes through my head every time we engage in this health insurance conversation. It's that moment in my life, because I think about what on earth would we have done if we had not had insurance."

But you did have insurance. It was private insurance, and not some crappy "public option." If you didn't have insurance, your daughter still would have been treated.

On the role of women in getting children to see the doctor “Mothers are the ones that do it. And many women find themselves doing the same thing for their spouses ...[and are being] crushed by the current structure of our health care”

Yes, mothers typically take on that role. How exactly will ObamaCare change that?

"My father has multiple sclerosis. He contracted it in his 20s. ... He was able to get up and go to work every day, even though it got harder for him as he got sicker and more debilitated. And I find myself thinking what would we had done as a family on the south side of Chicago if my father hadn't had insurance."

The same thing families have done on the south side of Chicago for years, apply for medical assistance.

So access to health care, or health insurance for that matter, has never been a problem for the First Lady. In retrospect, she worries about what she and her family would have done without insurance. Shouldn't she be more worried about what would have happened if ObamaCare was the only option?

MO is preaching a health care plan that she'll never be part of, just as Oprah preaches dietary practices she'll never adhere to.

Minnesota's 5th Congressional District ...

I've blogged before about Minneapolis's 5th Congressional District, and for those of who don't follow Minnesota politics, the 5th is the most liberal in the state and one of the most liberal in the nation. The district is represented Congressman Keith "Hakim" Ellison, the guy who took his oath on the Quran. Ellison was re-elected in 2008, with over 70% of the vote.

So where did Obama make a stop over the weekend, in an attempt to resuscitate his health care plan?

A) Downtown Minneapolis
B) Keith Ellison's District
C) Moonbat Central
D) All of the above.

The correct answer is D.

Ellison supports ObamaCare 100%, as does the bulk of his constituency. In gaining some national exposure on his weekend fly-around, Obama picked a safe haven full of liberals with a stop in downtown Minneapolis. I watched Obama's Minneapolis speech, broadcast by local TV stations. What would have earned boos in most parts of the country, received a chorus of cheers from the Minnesota moonbats.

Examiner.com breaks Obama's speech down into 6 separate lies. I've paraphrased the Examiner's retorts in red.

(1) “[N]othing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have”

New regulations on private insurance will force premiums to rise, many employers will be forced to drop health insurance as a benefit.

(2) “[I]nsurance companies will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care ...

There will be an extra charge in the way of increased premiums. The CBO has stated that most preventive care efforts lead to an increase in overall spending.

(3) “No one would be forced to choose [the public option], and no one with insurance would be affected by it.”

If your employer drops coverage, you will be forced to choose the public option.

(4) “I will make sure that no government bureaucrat or insurance company bureaucrat gets between you and the coverage that you need

Not for those who choose the public option. And for those who enroll in that plan, and are denied coverage for a procedure or treatment, there is little legal recourse. HR3200 broadly exempts the government from legal action.

(5) “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits - either now or in the future.”

This has already been debunked. The only ways to avoid adding to the debt, will be by A) Raising taxes much more than what is being proposed, and/or B) Greatly rationing service to ObamaCare enrollees.

6) “And it's time to give every American the same opportunity that we've given ourselves.”

The President and Congress will continue to enjoy health care benefits which are far superior to what ObamaCare would provide.

Obama didn't repeat his lie about coverage not being given to illegal immigrants. He didn't need to, as their certainly were no Joe Wilson supporters in the audience. The lie Obama repeated once again is that people will be able to keep their private insurance.

Insurance companies exist for a reason. They evaluate risk and choose to accept it only if they believe that they can charge an adequate premium that will provide a return on equity. Underwriting is the process that insurance companies use when evaluating risk. Without the ability to underwrite, an insurance company simply can not survive.

The true goal of HR 3200 is to drive the private option into extinction. The public option will not be a choice - it will be the only alternative, and a mandatory one at that. The biggest lie of all about ObamaCare is the phrase "public option." It should be called the "public plan"; the plan being universal, socialized health care. Obama has no intention of competing head to head with private insurance, his plan is to legislate it to the point of insolvency while creating the biggest social program in the history of the United States.

The state of Minnesota has among the lowest health insurance rates and best medical care in the country. The much ballyhooed Mayo Clinic is one small example of what makes health care great in Minnesota: There is a long list of hospitals and clinics in the state that are world leaders in various specialties, procedures, and treatments. What has always been the primary funding mechanism for Minnesota medical facilities? It's not Medicare or Medicaid, it's private insurance. For that, there is irony in that Minnesota moonbats would so eagerly support Obama's plan which would radically change the current system. But what else would you expect from the most liberal district in a state that hasn't voted for a Republican President since Richard Milhous Nixon?

Where were you on the morning of September 11, 2001?

I was at home that morning, getting ready for a flight out of town later in the day to attend a business seminar. A friend had passed away the previous weekend. My plans were to get ready for my trip, go to work for a few hours, attend the memorial service, and then head to the airport for a 9 o'clock departure.

As I packed by bags, I was listening to the KQRS Morning Show when they announced a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. I immediately thought the worst. Off went the radio, as I spent the next hour or so channel surfing news coverage from ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, and NBC. After the second plane hit the WTC, I distinctly recall ABC's Peter Jennings crying "where is the President!" (President Bush, who had been speaking at a school in Florida, was being moved by the Secret Service to Barksdale Airforce Base in Louisiana, where he addressed the nation.)

When it was reported the Pentagon had been hit, my survival instincts kicked in. I went to the nearest gas station to fill up my car, along with the empty gas cans that I located in my garage. I dropped the gas cans off at home and then went to the grocery store and purchased a cart full of non-perishables. On the way home, I picked up three 40 pound bags of dog food. During this time I had checked in with family and friends via cell phone. We all were at at a loss to explain what had happened or what we should do. Bin Laden was the natural suspect, but how could he pull this off in America?

I checked on the ammo supply for my firearms. I was well stocked for handguns, rifles, and shotguns, but after hearing that air travel had been shut down, I went out and purchased a large variety of bullets and shells to supplement my arsenal. I then dropped those off at home and headed for the office, wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

Except for the fact that everyone was in shock, things at work were normal. I discussed with my superiors the option of renting a car and driving to my destination, since air travel had been suspended. We agreed that my trip would be postponed until we learned more about what was behind this obvious attack on our country. The seminar went ahead, but money was refunded for those could not make it. The hotel I was to stay at allowed me to cancel my reservation without penalty - no questions asked.

The afternoon flew by, and at five o'clock I left for home, where I changed into something respectable and proceeded to the 7 pm memorial service. I arrived about 30 minutes early and had the opportunity to talk with the family and dozens of friends, many of whom I had not seen for years. Again, people were in shock. How could this happen in America?

The service was over by 8 pm. After spending a few minutes talking with those in attendance, I left with some friends for a local bar/restaurant. There were several TVs on when we arrived, but all were tuned into sports or reality shows. After asking more than once, and having several other patrons echo my desire, the bartender reluctantly agreed to switch one of the TVs over to CNN so we could get an update on the tragic events of the day.

We ate our appetizers, drank our beers, paid the bill and left. We tipped the barkeep exactly what she deserved, given her cluelessness about the significance of the day. I think she was just happy we were gone, so she could switch back to her favorite TV show and get paid to watch it.

Upon returning home, I cracked open a cold one and drank it in the backyard. I noticed an aircraft flying overhead in the darkened sky. And then I noticed a second. They were both F-16s, circling the Minneapolis/St Paul metropolitan area, separated by 180 degrees. I went to bed that night thinking about how I had never had imagined military aircraft would be patrolling the airspace over my house. The F-16s stood guard 24/7 for the next several days, ready to shoot down anything that dare take to the skies.

In the days ahead, some of my worries subsided, along with the rest of the nation. Watching both Democrats and Republicans stand tall alongside President George W. Bush was reassuring to say the least. I'll never forget Great Britain Prime Minister Tony Blair appearing with our President pledging his nation's unconditional support of the United States. New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's pragmatic words of encouragement not only set an example for his fellow New Yorkers, he inspired the nation as well.

In the weeks following 9/11 we learned of the thousands of everyday heroes who put their lives at risk on that fateful day, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice. Firefighters, police officers, paramedics and civilians who helped to save countless lives at the World Trade Center. Average Joes, like Todd Beamer, who challenged the hijackers on United Airlines Flight 93, and prevented a direct hit on the nation's capitol. After the Pentagon was attacked, military and civilian personnel bravely tended to the needs of the wounded and fought to control fires, while at the same time responding to the series of attacks against the United States.

I can only appreciate the significance of the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor from what I've learned in history books, or from stories I've heard from those who were old enough to remember that day. As the years go by, Pearl Harbor becomes, more and more, just a another chapter in history, rather than an event that greatly affected and changed the future. With 9/11, much of the country has already relegated the day to simply nothing more than a "Breaking News" promoted by CNN.

September 11, 2001 is a day I will never forget. I'm confident that my loyal readers won't either. Today is a day most of us will take a few moments to remember, even our pacifist President. Another terrorist attack could happen anytime or any place. This is why we all need to keep 9/11 in mind all 365 days of the year.

Teachers, as members of the largest union in the country - you must have been excited to hear that I ~~will~~ may be speaking to your classrooms on September 8.

Due to criticism from ~~racists~~ conservative talk radio, ~~millions of typical white~~ a small number of people have expressed concerns that I will be using this speech as an opportunity to promote my health care plan. While that is true, I will be removing some of the more ~~socialistic~~ progressive talking points from my speech in light of the recent ~~racism~~ criticisms.

Some of you may also come to find that your schools won't be allowing me to address your students during the school day. While I'm disappointed that I'll have modify my message, and that many student won't be seeing it all, I encourage you to make this day a teachable moment and spread the virtues of ~~socialism~~ education to the children of our great nation.

Lesson Plan ideas and activities for September 8.

Talk about the threat of the H1N1 virus and how many of them are going to die. Remind students that if we had socialized medicine - this wouldn't be a problem.

Inform the kids, that for those whose parents make more that $60,000, the price for milk goes up by 25 cents. Explain that is an exercise in patriotism that allows the other kids to get their milk for free.

Hold an election for class president. Let the kids getting free milk vote twice. Seek out a local ACORN activist to serve as election judge. Emphasize to students how important ACORN is to having a fair and accurate voting process.

Answer questions from white students, only after the question of all others have been answered. This is an excellent way to illustrate AAA (affirmative action in answering) in the classroom.

Invite a transgender person to speak to students about the diversity of lifestyle choices.

Show the students pictures of polar bears and penguins. Have the students create names for them. Then discuss how they will all soon drown because of global warming.

Discuss the current hurricane season, explain how hurricanes are named and that they too are caused by global warming.

Ask student to share examples of where police have acted stupidly.

Pass out condoms, while explaining how much they detract from the experience. Inform students that because of President Obama's federal funding for abortion, they won't be punished with a baby. Explain that with free abortions - along with free health care that will eliminate STD's - condoms will no longer be necessary.

Talk about why religion isn't taught in public schools. Be sure to mention that all religion isn't bad: Compare and contrast the crazy conservative talk of Christianity and the greed in Judaism, with peaceful and tolerant religions like Islam.

Have an art contest to see who can create the best Obama logo.

Allow kids with same-sex parents to invite both moms or both dads to be part of show and tell.

Math lesson: A 9.7% unemployment rate, means 90.3% are not on employment!

Have the students create a "Michele Obama Garden" in the school yard.

During recess, show the students an episode of ABC TV's "The View." Pass out donuts while mentioning that Obama invented them. That's why they taste so good and are shaped like an 'O'.

Discuss with student previous Presidents of the United States. Students should learn that while President Obama is the greatest, Kennedy, Carter, and Clinton were good too.

Explain to students why it is so important for President Obama to apologize to the world. While this is in large part due to the actions of George W. Bush, America has been held in global disregard ever since we forced the Japanese into attacking Pearl Harbor.

Split the class into two team for a debate. One side should argue why a public option is needed for health care, the other side will argue for universal health care.

Have the students share what they feel is important about the United States Constitution. Be sure to talk about the Bill of Rights: Welfare rights, health care rights, abortion rights, and affirmative action - as well as rights that allow people to break certain laws as long as they do it within the context of a liberal protest.

Discuss President Obama's excellent choice in Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor, and how she will work to protect the Constitution by changing it.

Computer assignment: Ask the students to go to factcheck.org and find the picture of a copy of President Obama's birth certificate. Then have the students go to the page at whitehouse.gov where they can report conservatives for domestic terrorism.

Divide students up into groups of 6-8. Have them brainstorm ideas for raising money on behalf of Organizing for America. Use as many of these ideas as possible during the school year.

Have the student take turns reading aloud from "Dreams of My Father"

Music Class: Work with students to write a song that praises President Obama, or use the following song written during his campaign from last year.

Good luck in the upcoming school year! At any time, when students have a disagreement that isn't quickly resolved, invite the students to meet after class and discuss their differences over a beer.

The UK Plan: Death Panels and Rationing

For years we've heard the argument that socialized medicine works in other countries, so it should be adopted in the United States as well. "Canada and England have socialized medicine, it works for them ... blah, blah, blah."

Two weeks ago I blogged about comments the incoming President of the Canadian Medical Association made about their "imploding" health care system. Canadian doctors are asking for a "private option".

Doctors in the UK are now speaking out about problems with their socialized health care program, the National Health Service.

'Sentenced to death on the NHS'
Patients with terminal illnesses are being made to die prematurely under an NHS scheme to help end their lives, leading doctors warn today.

Under NHS guidance introduced across England to help doctors and medical staff deal with dying patients, they can then have fluid and drugs withdrawn and many are put on continuous sedation until they pass away.

But this approach can also mask the signs that their condition is improving, the experts warn.

As a result the scheme is causing a “national crisis” in patient care, the letter states. It has been signed palliative care experts including Professor Peter Millard, Emeritus Professor of Geriatrics, University of London, Dr Peter Hargreaves, a consultant in Palliative Medicine at St Luke’s cancer centre in Guildford, and four others.

If this "guidance" that the NHS has offered sounds a more like guidelines offered by a death panel, that's because it is.

Under the guidelines the decision to diagnose that a patient is close to death is made by the entire medical team treating them, including a senior doctor ... When a decision has been made to place a patient on the pathway doctors are then recommended to consider removing medication or invasive procedures, such as intravenous drips, which are no longer of benefit. If a patient is judged to still be able to eat or drink food and water will still be offered to them, as this is considered nursing care rather than medical intervention.

An "entire medical team" diagnosing when a patient is "close to death" and placed on a "pathway." Death panel indeed.

Another problem on the health care horizon for the NHS: More Rationing!

'1 in 10 NHS jobs 'would have to be cut to meet efficiency targets'
A tenth of health service jobs need to be cut within five years to meet planned £20bn efficiency savings, ministers have been told.

The British baby boom was in the 1960's. In five years their boomers will have an average age of about 50. As they get closer to retirement, their going to need more medical care, not less. There is also a slow but steady uptick in fertility rates in the UK. I'm going too go out on a limb here, by saying that an in increase in child birth leads to an increase in doctor visits.

The NHS currently has a policy of waiting no more than 18 weeks for hospital admission, once a patient has been referred by a doctor, and they don't exactly meet that goal. Can you imagine the outcry if United Healthcare or Kaiser Permanente made their members wait 4 1/2 months for an operation? As the NHS sheds 10% of its works force while demand increases, will the 18 weeks get stretched to 26 weeks, or maybe a year?

I've yet to see an example of socialized medicine that works as effectively as the private U.S. health system. Medicare and Medicaid survive off taxpayer dollars and the fact that they only pay about 1/2 of the going rate for services - hospitals and clinics make up the difference by raising fees on the privately insured.

By definition, in a true socialistic country, the government owns health care. Like Canada, the UK is looking at private options to fix there broken system. Meanwhile, back in Washington D.C., socialists are pushing ObamaCare as the future of medical treatment in the United States.

Doesn't make much sense, does it?

Searching Chappaquiddick

The day following the passing of Ted Kennedy, the national news media was abuzz in covering not only his death, but also his life. As people turned to the Internet to learn more, 34 of the top 100 Google searches from August 26, involved Kennedy, the Kennedy family, Mary Jo Kopechne, and/or Chappaquiddick. Kopechne/Chappaquiddick searches composed 8 of the 34 directly related to Kennedy.

Kennedy's early endorsement of Obama in January, 2008 may have been the key moment in the race for the Democratic nomination. Had Kennedy thrown his support behind Hillary Clinton - she probably would have faced off against John McCain in the November elections. The only way to make any sense with respect to the benefits of a Kennedy endorsement, is to acknowledge that liberals either don't know or don't care about his sordid past.

No doubt, there are millions of twenty-something Americans that first learned of Chappaquiddick and Kopechne on August 26. I hope that they are now asking the questions the rest of us have been thinking about for years. Why did Kennedy walk away with only a misdemeanor traffic charge? How was he able to continue to get reelected and occupy a seat in the U.S. Senate for the next 40 years?

A local news crew is quick on the scene to report live. As the reporter is struggling to find something to justify the break in local programming - such as people wearing flip-flops in summertime - look who walks by carrying a flat screen TV!

Of course, in the era following Gates-gate(TM), no one is going to dare ask the gentleman why he is carrying the TV. Any theories on what might have happened if a cop had stopped him to ask about the TV?

Another Dead Kennedy

Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy (February 22, 1932 - August 25, 2009)

Mary Jo Kopechne (July 26, 1940 – July 18, 1969)

So while Ted Kennedy lived 77 and 1/2 years, Mary Jo Kopechne died eight days short of her 29th birthday, when he drove her off the Chappaquiddick Bridge. Kennedy got off with the charge of leaving the scene of an accident. He was given a two-month suspended sentence and paid a small fine.

While Massachusetts voters quickly forgave Kennedy, the American people never did. He toyed with the idea of being President a few times, but never received his party's endorsement. Also, he was never offered the chance to run as Vice-President on his party's ticket.

When JFK was elected President in 1960, he wished for little brother Ted to fill his vacated Senate seat. Ted was not yet 30 years of age and constitutionally ineligible, so a college roommate of JFK was appointed as a placeholder. In 1962, when Kennedy turned 30 years of age, a special election was held allowing him to become Senator.

In 2004, when Kennedy thought fellow Massachusetts Senator John Kerry would be the next President of the United States, Kennedy pushed for a change in state law. With Republican Mitt Romney as the Governor of Massachusetts, Kennedy was successful in changing the law so that a Senate vacancy would be filled by special election and not by gubernatorial appointment.

In the past year, knowing that he wouldn't fill out his current term, Kennedy has attempted to undo the law, so that the current Democratic Governor will be allowed to appoint his successor. In a nutshell, that illustrates the duplicity of Ted Kennedy. The same guy who was expelled from Harvard for having another student take a test for him.

Kennedy has been promoting socialized medicine since the Nixon administration, trying to satisfy the wishes of big labor. With ObamaCare losing support everyday, those trumpeting the plan likely see Kennedy's death as a most timely one. In the coming weeks, look for calls to pass ObamaCare in the name of Ted Kennedy. We can only hope that these calls meet the same fate as Kopechne did 40 years ago.

Update: Early Wednesday, CBS aired comments on Kennedy's deaths from author Douglass Brinkley. Brinkley suggested the need for health care to pass in honor of Kennedy's and his legacy. Brinkley factoid: Early in 2004, Brinkley released Tour of Duty: John Kerry and the Vietnam War, a book about John Kerry's war experience and beyond, based on interviews with Kerry. It was no coincidence that Kerry was running for President at the time, and the book presented Kerry's negative views of the Viet Nam War as a parallel to the anti-Iraq war position he was taking as a Presidential candidate. In Tour of Duty, Kerry is highly critical of several officers he served with. Brinkley failed to interview almost of of the men prior to publication. Brinkley's book is considered to be a definite factor in motivating fellow veterans to organize as Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and campaign against Kerry in 2004.

Drunk Joe Biden

Five days before the 2000 elections, an eleventh-hour story erupted as breaking news: George W. Bush had a DUI arrest in 1976. Bush acknowledged he had a drinking problem in the past but that he hadn't touched a drop in years. Still the mainstream media asked questions about whether this meant he was unfit to serve as President. The issue hung over Bush's head for much of his Presidency.

Is Joe Biden an alcoholic? There seems to be no definitive proof. As a regular on the Washington to Delaware Amtrak over the past 35 years - a DUI isn't likely to be on his record.

In an interview a few before the 2008 election Biden is speaks of, seemingly out of the blue, alcoholics from his childhood.

Though Joe Sr. was not a heavy drinker, alcohol flowed freely in the Finnegan house and in the neighborhood. Joe Jr. saw the toll it took on his family, his neighbors and, later, on his little brother Frankie. “Every family had it,” said Tom Bell, one of Senator Biden’s childhood friends from Scranton who remains close to him. “But the Finnegans had more than their share.”

Senator Biden does not drink at all, and he is frank about the reason. “There are enough alcoholics in my family,” he said last month as he sipped cranberry juice on a train ride from Washington to Wilmington.

Apparently the reporter was treading lightly into the rumors of Biden and drinking. The notation of cranberry juice? Was the reporter expecting Biden to whip out a fifth of vodka while being interviewed on a train?

So how long has Biden been able to honestly say he doesn't drink at all? When did he go dry?

What has Vice President Joe Biden been up to? Have you seen or heard from him since the White House racial summit, where he was invited to be the second white guy in attendance. (We were told, [wink-wink] he drank non-alcoholic beer - more on that later this week.)

Interesting Biden update today. It doesn't sound like his limited role in the Obama administration is what he signed up for. Biden associates say his relationship with Obama is evolving. Coming to the political partnership with no real friendship to speak of, Biden has sought to cultivate one with Obama since the swearing-in. A Biden aide calls the process a "courtship after the marriage."

"Courtship after the marriage"? Biden better hope it's better than the one Hillary had with Bill.

For the sake of the GOP, I hope Obama allows for Biden to have a much larger part in his administration. You say 'potato', Dan Quayle says 'potatoe'! Biden says:

Favre is part French and part Native American, making his middle name, Lorenzo, completely inappropriate, particularly for a blonde guy who spent most of his adult life in braces.
One theory behind the strange pronunciation of his family name is that the Favre family has simply been mispronouncing it themselves for so long that it just stuck, which is so sad it nearly makes you want to cry. But you won't, because you are not Brett Favre at the end of a football game.

College Football

Favre began his elite football career in college at Southern Mississippi, an institution of higher learning intended mainly for students who didn't get accepted by all the other colleges no one has ever heard of. This was the case with Favre, who received no other scholarships. Other well-known dick alumni include Chuck Scarborough and Trishelle from The Real World. In Favre's first game, he was pulled off the bench to lead his team to victory, despite having a terrible hangover. Favre was a burgeoning binge drinker at this time, most likely because a painkiller habit is simply too expensive for the average college student.

Favre still holds many school records, a true triumph considering no one of note has played there in the 50 years since he graduated.

Professional football

Favre made a much-heralded debut in the NFL when he was drafted in the second round by the Atlanta Falcons, whose coach at the time announced there would have to be a plane crash that killed most of the other team members before Favre would ever play.

Favre was then traded to the Green Bay Packers, where his career continued promisingly, despite Troy Aikman's annually making him his bitch. To deal with the Cowboy bitch situation (or “bitchuation”) and the injuries that accompanied it, Favre developed a pain killer addiction. The habit was widely publicized, though Favre was commended for "voluntarily" entering rehab after being threatened with an almost one million dollar fine.

Favre went on to have a long, remarkable, record-breaking career, becoming an idol to the city of Green Bay, though one should always take with a grain of salt the object of worship of a group of citizens who feel no shame about wearing dairy products on their heads.

During much of this period, Favre was not a dick, but was instead the likable quarterback of a perennially average to slightly above-average football team that played a lot of games in the snow. That all ended when he started to forget that he was actually a football player, and not an owner of an organization where he was better than everyone else because he had a ring, some records, and a steakhouse and banquet facility with his name on it.

"Retirement"

Like many dicks, Favre began his true descent in dickhood in the later years of his career. Most notably, Favre played his "last game at Lambeau" several times, subjecting fans to endless “retrospective" montages in quantities that have yet to be matched. In light of these multiple, unsatisfying endings, Favre can be compared to the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

Finally, Favre officially retired in March of 2008, another milestone event marked by an embarrassing display of sobbing. His stated reason for retiring was simply "not wanting to play anymore."

One month later, Favre decided he wanted to ~~cry more~~ play more. Giving legions of dairy-headed Green Bay fans the respect they so richly deserved, Favre volunteered to play for any other team in the NFL, included some of the Packers' most hated division rivals. This was how Favre chose to reveal that, for the previous 15 years, Wisconsin fans had not actually been cheering on their gridiron hero, but had merely been feeding an insatiable ego that would gladly sell everyone out just to compensate for severe dick envy.

Not wanting their star player to become the quarterback of a rival team, the Packers did not release him from his contract. Although Favre has demonstrated no real understanding of the word "retirement," the Packers have a relatively strong grasp on the definition of "legally binding contract."

Interested in developing a quarterback who is less talented, but not about to turn 75 years old, the Packers offered to have Brett Favre join them on the bench. But the bench is for losers, not professional dicks, and so Favre began secretly meeting with the Minnesota Vikings.

While Favre is, no doubt, a future legend and Hall of Famer, his current status is that of a long-graduated former big man on campus who still lives in his college town and spends time hanging around offering to buy people beer and trying to get the freshmen girls to drink more jungle juice.

During the unretirement process, Favre expressed interest in playing for a Super Bowl contender in the 2008-2009 season. Fittingly, he was traded to the New York Jets, a team that recently went 4-12 and was more likely to win a Stanley Cup pretending to be the now defunct Winnipeg Jets than to play in the Super Bowl.

November 29, 2004 was declared Brett Favre Day by the governor of Wisconsin. On this day Vicodin was available at half-price and everyone was allowed to ignore the contributions of other talented people in their workplace.
Favre holds the NFL record for most consecutive starts by a quarterback who would go on to choke in the conference championship.
Farve holds the record for most completed passes to players on the other team.
While there is no direct evidence proving it, circumstantial evidence indicates that Favre regularly has gross, old person make-out sessions with this man.

It seems like a common-sense idea that there weren't enough people around 5, 6, 7,000 years ago to have any significant impact on climate. But if you allow for the fact that those people, person by person, had something like 10 times as much of an effect or cleared 10 times as much land as people do today on average, that bumps up the effect of those earlier farmers considerably, and it does make them a factor in contributing to the rise of greenhouse gasses," (William) Ruddiman said.

Ruddiman said that starting thousands of years ago, people would burn down a forest, poke a hole in the soil between the stumps, drop seeds in the holes and grow a crop on that land until the nutrients were tapped out of the soil. Then they would move on.
"
And they'd burn down another patch of forest and another and another. They might do that five times in a 20-year period," he said.

My initial reaction to this study is that it's meant to give global warming theorists a way to explain the Earth's historical warming/cooling cycles, such as the medieval warming period.

It is estimated the Earth's population in 5000 B.C. was 5 million people. Sticking with Ruddiman's model that assumes they cleared 10 times as much land as they do today, then it would be the equivalent 50 million people - roughly the current population of Myanmar.

A few things to ponder ..

The Earth's population is 1300 times greater than it was 7,000 years ago.
Canada alone loses an average of 2 million acres per year to forest fires caused by lighting. Including areas of frozen tundra, it contains about 6% of the world's land mass. Extrapolating that to the globe, lightening caused fires burn off around 30 million acres of forest each year around the world. That's 6 acres - each year - for every caveman, cavewoman, and cavechild who lived circa 5000 B.C.
How many acres would it take (would it even take one?) to feed a caveperson in 5000 BC, considering hunting and fishing had been around for tens of thousands of years? Even if the caveman had burned the hell out of the forests, what difference could it have made compared to naturally occurring fires or volcanic activity?

Fast forward in time to the year 2009. We are approaching 7 million people. Think of all the coal-fired power plants, jet airliners, and the hundreds of millions of tons of plastic produced each year. Consider that for each of the 5 million cavepeople who were burning trees 7,000 years ago, there are 150 automobiles burning fossil fuels today.

Global warming in 2009 is still only a theory. As much as the greenies want to say the debate is over - it isn't. The medieval warming period ended 500 years prior to the industrial era and it makes a good case that warming/cooling cycles are highly dependant on the Earth's relationship with the sun. If Ruddiman's beliefs had an ounce of credibility, Global Warming would have been an inconvient truth long before Al Gore was born.

Is Ruddiman's study an attempt to put an environmental spin on ancient world history? Perhaps that isn't his goal, but greenies have been eager to glob onto his theories to conveniently explain pre-industrial changes in climate.

If it's the latter, the recent comments by the incoming President of the Canadian Medical Association may be the final nail in the coffin for ObamaCare.

Canadian Health Officials: Our Universal Health Care Is 'Sick,' Private Insurance Should Be Welcomed

Dr. Anne Doig, the incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association, said her country’s health care system is “sick” and “imploding,” the Canadian Press reported.
“We know there must be change,” Doig said in a recent interview. “We’re all running flat out, we’re all just trying to stay ahead of the immediate day-to-day demands.”
Canada’s universal health care system is not giving patients optimal care, Doig added. When her colleagues from across the country gather at the CMA conference in Saskatoon Sunday, they will discuss changes that need to be made, she said.
“We all agree the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize,” she said.

Current president of the CMA, Dr. Robert Ouellet, will make a presentation at the conference about his findings when he toured Europe in January, and met with health groups in several countries.

Ouellet has said that “competition should be welcomed, not feared,” meaning private health insurance should have a role in the public health system.
Doig said she isn’t sure what kind of changes will be proposed when the conference wraps up, but she does know that changes have to come – and fast. She said she understands that universal health care, while good in some ways, has not always been helpful for sick people or their families.

"(Canadians) have to understand that the system that we have right now — if it keeps on going without change — is not sustainable," Doig said.

Dr. Oullet is advocating a private option for Canadian. He is no doubt referring to the American private insurance model, the one that Obama says is broken.

It hasn't been a good month for supporters of ObamaCare. I don't believe them when they tell me I can't trust ObamaCare critics, but I have started to feel sorry for them. The President is asking for my help. What can I do to put a stop to people like me from spreading the truth?

I heard about a website where I can email reports of fellow conservatives who post "fishy" information on the Internet. I immediately thought of Dr. Dave. As far as I know, he's not a real doctor and he even doesn't play one on TV. That sounds pretty fishy to me!

On top of that his snarky blog is loaded with criticism of ObamaCare. Why not report someone who's both fishy and snarky? It's two for the price of one - just like the Clintons.

Move over Michael Moore, there's a new producer of demagoguery about to hit the big screen. His name is Henry Louis Gates Jr.

How much is Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. worth? It's hard to say, but with his Harvard salary, book royalties, documentaries, and fees for speaking engagements, it is safe to say his annual income is easily in the multiple five-figure range. The publicity over his arrest in Cambridge, MA last month will likely increase the size of his wealth. Gates's livelihood over the years has evolved around his views of racism against blacks in the United States, and Gates-gate(TM) will fit in nicely with that business plan.

Gates is a professor of African-American Studies at Harvard, and Director of the school's W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African-American Research. He is paid to profess about the subject of racism and the plight of the black man. He opines on the topic with overt generalizations and with his fingers pointed everywhere but himself. One could argue that when Gates speaks about race, he does so in the role of an agitator seeking to financially profit from the issue.

When Gates tells his life story, it's always through the eyes an oppressed black man.

About the cane? (Hint: It was whitey's fault)

Found His Path In 1964, when Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was fourteen years old, he suffered a hairline fracture of the ball-and-socket joint of the hip while playing touch football in his hometown. He didn't realize the severity of the injury until a few weeks later when the joint sheared apart while he was walking. The white doctor who examined Gates shortly afterward questioned the boy about his injury as well as his career plans. When the young Gates replied that he wanted to be a doctor and then correctly answered many questions about science, the doctor made his diagnosis. He told Gates to stand and walk, and the young boy fell to the floor in intense pain. The doctor then turned to Gates's mother and explained that her son's problem was psychosomatic — a black boy from Appalachia who wanted to be a doctor in the mid-1960s was an overachiever. Years later Gates wrote in an article for The New York Times that "'overachiever' designated a sort of pathology: the overstraining of your natural capacity." As a result of the misdiagnosis, Gates's right leg is more than two inches shorter than his left. As a result of that injury, Gates walks with the aid of a cane.

Obviously the "white doctor" misdiagnosed the injury, but the doctor's race is completely irrelevant - added to the story as a gratuitous implication of racist medical treatment. Would a white boy have fared better? Would a black doctor have treated him differently and prevented the life long use of a cane? These are questions that the Harvard professor does not consider.

I've not read any of these book, but judging from the titles, I doubt Gates ever speaks about human beings in a general sense. To him there are only the oppressed blacks and the oppressive whites. Gates probably has made more money has an "expert" on racial issue that most of us will ever make in a lifetime.

Looking back to Gates-gate(TM) and Obama's comments that "cooler heads should have prevailed", why didn't they?

The cop's 15 minutes of fame appear to have run out. The media tracked him down after Obama said he "acted stupidly" and he hasn't been shy about answering their questions, but a year from now he'll likely be just another cop on the street doing his job as he's always done it.

Gates' erratic behavior prior to the arrest makes one wonder if this wasn't a moment he long awaited. Seven words that just might get you arrested: "Ya, I'll speak with your mama outside." Those words of course, along with the comments he made outside after he followed the cops outside, led to his arrest for disorderly conduct.

How did a misdemeanor arrest become national news in the first place? The earliest news report I can find of the arrest is from Boston Globe on July 20, four days after the incident.

"Friends of Gates said he was already in his home when police arrived. He showed his driver’s license and Harvard identification card, but was handcuffed and taken into police custody for several hours last Thursday, they said ... Gates, 58, declined to comment today when reached by phone. "

These "friends" were not at the scene of the arrest, yet they to give a statement to the press as if they had witnessed the event. Were these "friends" the ones who tipped off the Globe to a story that would soon make the national news wire. On July 22, Obama acknowledged he didn't have all the facts, yet still told the White House Press Corp that the "police acted stupid". Bad move by the President, but good for those who might profit from increased publicity over the event.

Today, Henry Louis Gates is a household name only because, A) The Globe ran the arrest story with the overtone of racial profiling, and B) Obama was quick to blame the cops. Will Gates use his arrest to make a few quick bucks? Gates has already suggested that possibility:

For the first time in his life, former President Bill Clinton has more than a 50% approval rating, following the release of two Asian-American journalists, detained for nearly five months in North Korea.

Laura Ling, 32, and Euna Lee, 36, were pardoned by North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Il after Clinton agreed to show him nude photos of his wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Mr. Clinton boarded a plane, photos in hand, and headed for North Korea late Monday. A two-hour dinner celebration, featuring a humorous slide show of the naked SOS, was held to honor the visiting Clinton. The Korean Central News Agency broadcast the event on live television, allowing millions of North Koreans the opportunity to laugh at Mrs. Clinton's pair shaped physique and the size of her cankles. KCNA reporters commented that even Korean men don't have that much body hair.

Immediately following the dinner, Clinton returned to the United States, along with Ling and Lee. As Clinton departed the plane, after it landed at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank early Wednesday, he briefly spoke to reporters. "The release was agreed to before I went to North Korea, but President Obama privately asked me to go anyway thinking this might help his dismal poll numbers. I said hell yes, because I know that when I'm at 15,000 feet over the Pacific, there is no chance that Hillary is going to walk in on me."

When asked what he discussed with Ling and Lee, during the long flight from North Korea to California, Clinton coyly replied, "there wasn't much talkin', we got right down to business. I told them a ménage à trois was the price of the plane ticket before we ever took off. They chose that over twelve years of hard labor. I still got it! I hadn't had an Asian girl since I was in the White House - today I had two. Move over Ron Jeremy!"

Hillary Clinton spoke from Washington on her husband's role in freeing the two women. Mrs. Clinton was surprised at the news, "That asshole told me he was going to Pyongyang for the Kim Jong Il Celebrity Golf Tournament - a fund raiser for communism. A ménage à trois? We promised each other no more threesomes after the Vince Foster controversy. We did bend the rules a little bit with Janet Reno, but only because it was his birthday and I was allowed to participate."

Former Vice President Al Gore, the founder of CurrentTV, which Ling and Lee were reporting for when they were captured, spoke on behalf of the families saying "they wish to thank me for sending the girls to North Korea in the first place." Reading from a prepared statement, Gore repeatedly mentioned, "The families also understand that the five month detainment of Laura and Euna is further proof that made-made climate change is real and irreversible. We must act now!" Gore added that he had "bonded" with the families after learning of the three-way sexcapade, explaining that two of his own daughters, Karenna and Kristin, had given Mr. Clinton "double the pleasure" at his Harlem office in 2002.

In an email sent from the lock-down ward of an undisclosed psychiatric hospital, former Second Lady Mary 'Tipper' Gore was not at all impressed by the news of a "ménage à trois, noting that she was "gang banged" by the heavy-metal band Black Sabbath and about a dozen roadies in 1984. At the White House morning press conference, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stated that President Obama and the First Lady recently had a three way Hawaiian Senator Daniel Inouye, who is of Japanese descent. According to Gibbs, "the Obamas plan to do some swinging and swapping with Senator Inouye and his wife Irene, once the Senate reconvenes in September. " Gibbs abruptly called an end to the meeting when reporter Helen Thomas began a segue into the time she slept with Lady Bird Johnson and Barbara Walters.

The Activist Next Door posted a YouTube video yesterday of Congressman Keith "Hakim" Ellison Getting hammered, during a town hall meeting on ObamaCare last Saturday. It was a bit surprising, as Ellison represents Minnesota's Fifth District - the most liberal in the state, and one of the bluest districts in the country.

As the House of Representatives went home for the August Recess, Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave her Democratic Caucus; red, white, and blue pocket cards with talking points to promote ObamaCare. Those cards didn't to much to help Senator Arlen Specter and, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, as both were heckled and booed in Philadelphia on Sunday.

When NY Congressman Tim Bishop uses those talking points, it won't be during any upcoming town hall meetings; after a June 22 gathering in Setauket, NY didn't quite go as he planned, he's stopped having them.

“I had felt they would be pointless,” Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) told POLITICO, referring to his recent decision to temporarily suspend the events in his Long Island district. “There is no point in meeting with my constituents and [to] listen to them and have them listen to you if what is basically an unruly mob prevents you from having an intelligent conversation.”

Happy "Birther" Day

Tuesday, August 4th, will be a milestone birthday for Barack Hussein Obama, his first one as President of the United States. Does he celebrate his birthday on the month and day he was actually born? Probably. Was he born in the state of Hawaii on that day in 1961? Probably.

So far, we've seen the officially produced short-form version of the birth certificate, date-stamped June 6, 2007. We've also seen the archived birth announcement, which was originally published by a Honolulu newspaper in August of 1961. The short-form document was posted online by FactCheck.org on June 16, 2008. Set aside FactCheck.org for a moment, and consider when and why the "birther" issue first arose.

If you listen to MSNBC's Chris Matthews, Media Matters, or virtually any liberal news outlet, you are led to believe the "birthers" were born of right-wing conspiracy theorists. Hillary Clinton supporters may well be the true parents of the "birther" movement. If not, Clintonistas such as notable blogger Larry Johnson, acted as midwives. His blog, No Quarter, criticized Obama's short-form birth certificate while Hillary Clinton was still fighting to be the Democratic nominee:

This certificate is what the Hawaii DOH calls a “Late” Certificate of Birth, and it is not an original Birth Certificate recorded at the date of actual birth. In Hawaii, anyone can claim they were born there and submit the evidence years after the birth to obtain a late “Certificate of Birth”.

(If I may slightly digress for a moment, in June of 2008, Google was accused by several pro-Clinton bloggers of being silenced by by Google Inc., using "its network of online services to silence critics of Barack Obama." Google CEO Eric Schmidt publicly supported Obama's candidacy and actively campaigned on his behalf.)

Take a look at pro-Hillary Democrat and former Pennsylvania Deputy Attorney General, Phillip J. Berg. Berg has unsuccessfully filed a number lawsuits attempting to get access to Obama's original long-form birth certificate, both before and after Obama became the Democratic nominee for President. (Berg had previously established himself as a conspiracy theorist by suing to discover the "truth" about the 9/11 terrorist attacks, alleging a cover-up by the administration of President George W. Bush.) Berg continues to press the "birther" issue on his blog, http://obamacrimes.com/

So while it is likely left-wing "nutjobs" who gave birth to the "birther" issue , the mainstream media is blaming the controversy on right-wing "nutjobs". Regardless of whether the question comes from the left or the right, is it unreasonable to request that Obama prove to the American people something that he says exists; i.e. an original long-form of his birth certificate? "Birthers" come from both sides of the political divide, yet the fingers of the mainstream media all point to the right.

Back to Factcheck.org., which MSNBC's Matthews recently cited as a "non-partisan" media outlet that has provided absolute proof that Obama is a natural born citizen of the Unites States. FactCheck.org itself has publicly criticized CNN's Lou Dobbs for calling on Obama to provide access to his original birth certificate, saying they have settled the matter once and for all.

Is FactCheck.org non-partisan? Hell no! They admit to longtime ties to Obama, but brush this off as a "canard".

Brooks Jackson, director of Factcheck.org, admits that his group is a part of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, but says the Obama board connection is a canard.

The only connection Obama had with Annenberg came in 1995 through 1999 when the president-elect was the board chairman for The Annenberg Challenge in Chicago. The Challenge was charged with distributing $49 million in order to improve public education.

"The connection with us is that Obama was the board chairman of a group that benefited from Annenberg's philanthropy years before we came into existence," Jackson says. "Somehow that was twisted into Obama sat on our board." Factcheck.org, in fact, does not have a board of directors.

Indeed Obama does have ties to FactCheck.org, via the Annenberg foundation, of which he served a four-year stint on the board for one of its "philanthropy" arms, alongside terrorist William Ayers. Obama and Annenberg also enjoy a cozy relationship with ACORN, the infamous group which Factcheck.org has repeatedly defended, by downplaying ACORN's role in indictments and convictions related to voter fraud. FactCheck.org has a major conflict of interest that the mainstream media ignores ... enough said.

It's been suggested by many, that the "birther" issue would simply go away if Obama allowed for his original long-form birth certificate to be open for scrutiny by unbiased sources. Top officials at the Hawaii Department of Health have publicly stated the document exists, and I'm inclined to believe them. My suspicion is, for whatever it's worth, that by sealing his birth record as well as his college records, Obama is hiding something that would be politically damaging to him. The "birther" issue will not go away until Obama releases his original birth certificate.

Senate Dems blame media for August health deadline

'(Senate Majority Leader Harry) Reid said reporters created a fictitious deadline of a successful vote by the August recess, and downplayed the fact that the chamber won’t meet that mark.“That is a deadline that you created,” Reid told a group of about 75 reporters. '

Is that so Harry. Let's take peak at the transcript from Obama's nationally televised prime time infomercial from a July 22.

QUESTION: Thank you, Mr. President. You've been pushing Congress to pass health care reform by August. Why the rush? Are you worried that, if you don't, there's a delay until the fall, the whole effort will collapse?
OBAMA: A couple of points. Number one, I'm rushed because I get letters every day from families that are being clobbered by health care costs. And they ask me, "Can you help?" ...
The second thing is the fact that, if you don't set deadlines in this town, things don't happen.

This earliest mention of a deadline by Democrats I could find is May 13.

"The House is working to pass a comprehensive health care reform bill by July 31, before they head out for the August recess, and that's the kind of urgency and determination that we need to achieve what I believe will be historic legislation," Obama said. Pelosi, speaking before Obama, vowed health care legislation would be on the floor of the House by the end of July. "

So why is Reid now making the media a scapegoat and lying through his teeth in the process? Is it because the Republicans are about to go into half-time with a lead, and when they come back out they get to receive the ball, and have the wind at their backs?

The Democrats took a risk when setting the August deadline. The idea was to have Obama, Pelosi, and Reid to use their respective bully pulpits to slam through ObamaCare under a false sense of urgency. The poll numbers were on their side and would remain so, as long as the public did not have the opportunity to see the devil in the details. For Democrats the risk was not meeting the deadline, losing all momentum in the process.

The same time the Democrats announced the August deadline, the Republicans wisely set the goal of making sure that deadline wouldn't be met. This is a huge victory for the GOP. Democrats own the White House, and have near super-majorities in both houses of Congress - but yet they failed to meet a deadline the imposed upon themselves. Obama is going to be spending August not only stumping for support, he's going to be fighting to keep the support he currently has.

During the month of July, the "Rasmussen Daily Presidential Approval Index" has gone from -1 to -11. On his first day in the White House that number was +28, on June 1st he was at +7. The numbers don't lie but the prove that more and more Americans believe Obama does

If you're opposed to socialized medicine, then you're probably opposed to Obama in the first place. If you support socialized medicine, you're probably disappointed with his failure to corral fellow Democrats in the House and Senate to meet his deadline. By the time September roles around, ObamaCare may well be hanging on the same wall of failure as HillaryCare.

Who says hard hitting journalism has gone by the wayside? The mainstream media has been digging so deep into Gate's-gate(TM) that they've uncovered the types of beers that Henry, Barry, and "the cop" like to drink!

Barry will have a Budweiser, a longtime American tradition - brewed domestically but now owned by a Belgian company. (Do they speak "Austrian" in Belgium). Henry prefers Red Stripe or Becks. "The cop" will be drinking Blue Moon.

I'm somewhat of an beer connoisseur....

Bud is always a safe choice, especially in politics. Bud=Augie Busch=Busch Stadium=baseball= apple pie! If you ever order a beer on tap from a local tavern, keep in mind that the keg of Bud was probably tapped sometime after last week.

Red Stripe is a Jamaican Lager and a warm weather favorite. But stay out of the sun, ~~despite the smoothness its bark is more than its bite ... or is its bite worse than its bark~~ it's stronger in alcohol content than the taste suggests.

Becks offers a variety of flavors. The Pilsner and Dark are the most popular. Both greatly add to the enjoyment of eating the meat from dead cows, pigs, and chickens. Not bad with pizza either.

Blue Moon is a Belgian beer owned by Coors, sort of the opposite of Bud. If you're a fan of wheat beers you probably would enjoy Blue Moon. It has a light wheat flavor with a tinge of citrus.

The poor mainsteam media, Sara Palin hasn't gone on a shopping spree in months and, for the sake of ratings, they were hoping the beer selections of those involved in Gates-gate(TM) would add a little something to help fan the flames.

What if Barry said he was going to have a 'forty' of Schiltz Malt Liquor? Woo-hoo! That little detail would be front page of the New York Post! Imagine Henry saying he was going to kill a twelve-pack of Mickey's "hand grenades" - the late night talk show jokes would write themselves.

Think of the ratings that Larry King would have if "the cop" chose to drink Dixie Beer. Jesse Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, and Danny Glover would appear on 'LK Live' testifying how this proves "the cop" is a typical redneck member of law enforcement. Barry and Henry would be saying, "I told you so, and I told yo' mamma so."

The media is going to cover the beer gathering as an exposé into the issue of race. I don't suspect we will learn anything from this. Since calling "the cop" stupid without knowing the facts, Barry has tucked the race card back under his sleeve, saving it for a future date. Henry's 15 minutes of fame has shown him to be a cop-hating jackass, behavior unbecoming of a Harvard Professor.

"The cop" would love to tell Barry and Henry that he's tired of being called a racist when dealing with black people, but he won't. If he did, Henry would only try to shout him down the same way as the first time they met.

The embarrassment that Minnesota has endured over Al Franken* - from the start of his senatorial campaign in 2007 to the present - has provided one notable benefit for state residents. Franken* has helped us forget about the embarrassment caused by Congressman Keith Ellison (D MN-5, Minneapolis) .

Ellison is known around the country as being the first Muslim elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, and the guy who took his Oath of Office on the Quran. Ellison was first elected in 2006, and it was during that campaign we began to learn a few things about his questionable character.

While a student at the University of Minnesota, Ellison wrote several columns in the student newspaper defending the anti-Semitic position of Louis Farrakhan, using the pen name of "Keith E. Hakim". "Hakim" also wrote several anti-white columns as well.
Ellison was a card-carrying member of the Nation of Islam at the time, a fact he continues to deny today.
Ellison accepted campaign donations from members of the pro-terror group CAIR.
A history of tax evasion by Ellison had led to the IRS putting a lien on his home.
The driver's license of Ellison had been suspended, more than once, for his failure to pay traffic and parking tickets. KSTP TV reported that in total, Ellison had 55 tickets on his record.
Prior to his 2006 election, Ellison was cited numerous time for campaign finance violations.
Ellison, who is married, had an affair with a woman named Amy L. Alexander. This affair became public after Alexander made a 9-1-1 call stating Ellison had assaulted her.

Now I know you are asking, how did a creep like Ellison get elected to Congress? First, this is Minnesota we're talking about - the state that elected Franken*, Ventura, and Wellstone. Second, Ellison was elected by Minnesota's 5th Congressional District - one of the most liberal in the country. The 5th encompasses the City of Minneapolis and a couple of run down suburbs.

Since being elected to congress Ellison's troubles have continued. He has repeatedly compared President George W. Bush to Hitler. During a speech at a CAIR convention, Ellison lied about facts regarding the Iraq war in attempt to further incite anti-American sentiment among CAIR members. This past April, Ellison was arrested in Washington D.C., for crossing a police line during a protest at the Darfur Embassy.

The latest controversy surrounding Ellison is due to his failure to provide details of the two week trip he took to Mecca, last December. The hajj was paid for by the Muslim American Society of Minnesota. Ellison has refused to disclose the details of the trip, including cost.

The MAS was founded in 1992 by the International Muslim Brotherhood, and the two remain closely aligned. The IMB has a decades-long history of supporting terrorism and violence against Israel and the Western world.

MAS-MN has received more than $900,000 from the state of Minnesota for space leased at its headquarters to the Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy. TIZA is a state funded charter school that has been under scrutiny for operating as a religious school. TIZA has challenged state investigations, by claiming it is not a Muslim school, but rather a school for Muslims. TIZA has refused media access to the school to confirm TIZA's activities. The ACLU is currently suing TIZA over separation of church and state issues.

So there you have it. MAS-MN takes state funds for housing a public school that is illegally providing religious education. MAS-MN uses those fund to give Congressman Ellison a free all-expenses-paid two week trip to the Mother of Villages. Can you really blame Ellison for wanting to withhold the details from the public?

At this point, Ellison is in deep scat. This story has been slow to gain traction with the Minnesota media, but now it's finally being told. The Minnesota GOP last week filed a formal complaint with the House Ethics Committee. The national media won't be far behind, and Minnesotans can once again be proud of the embarrassment caused by Congressman Ellison.

Barack Hussein Obama was asked last night about the recent arrest of his pal, Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., America's fist black President said this:

“(Number One) I think it’s fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and, number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there’s a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately."

#1) I for one wouldn't be angry. If I just broke into to my house and the police stopped by to say "whaz up", I'd feel relieved. I would thank the cops for keeping an eye out for my property.

#2) He wasn't arrested on suspicion of burglary. He was arrested for Disorderly Conduct. He initially refuse to show his ID. He began his tantrums before the ID was presented, and continued them afterwards. He told the officer, "yeah, I'll speak with yo mama outside" He was warned about his disordely behavior before he was placed under arrest.

#3) He wasn't stopped! The cops didn't go to his house on a whim! He had just broken into his own home and a witness called the police. The witness was on scene when the first officer arrived. The cops not only had probable cause to investigate the matter, it was their duty to do so. The first cop explained to Gates that he was investigating a break-in in progress. Gates replied, "why, because I'm a black man America."
This was not a matter of racism or profiling by the cops. The racists are Gates and Obama. Gates broke into his house and when a white cop responded to a call, Gates falsely accused him of being a racist. One week later, the President of the United States makes the same accusation.

Obama was no doubt trying to address the issue of racial profiling with his comments. The problem is there was no profiling. Obama did highlight one fact, that he's too racist to realize: When a black man accuses a white man of racism, the white man stand guilty until proven innocent.

How much pork does a 787 billion dollar stimulus package buy? About 600 tons. This equates to about 1/14 of an ounce of ham (2 grams) on a per capita basis. That's a paper thin slice of "the other white meat". When you think about it that way - the stimulus package really didn't include that much pork.

Update: It appears it didn't take Obama's posse to get a hold of the pork story and the website has been changed. The Sec. of Ag put out a statement blaming the Drudge Report for publishing what was posted on their Obama's website. They maintain that the quantity purchased was 760,000 pound, with a price of about $1.56 a pound. With discount food chains selling this for about half that price, this still is an example of government waste. This guy explains it

Hillary to Lead ChinCare: Abdul Named SOS

President Obama announced yesterday that his socialized medicine plan will be passed by the time Congress goes into the August recess. He also announced ChinCare, a plan to expand ObamaCare to include the Chinese.

"Several days ago, I instructed my administration find ways to make free health care available for as many people as possible. China has a lot of people, and today I announce our plan to extend health care coverage to the Chinese nation. I've appointed Secretary of State Clinton to oversee this bold initiative, she will serve as the Health Czar of ChinCare, as part of her new role within my administration. I have appointed Paula Abdul as the new Secretary of State." Upon her confirmation, Miss Abdul will be the first Mezzo-Soprano to ever serve in this position.

When asked, given the current recession, if America can afford to offer medical coverage for the Chinese, Obama replied, "Look this is about making health care more efficient. China has somewhere between one billion and one trillion people. With ChinCare, we will make health care more affordable for all. We as Americans can no longer afford to ignore this problem. Of all our trade partners, China adds the most to our national debt. We buy a lot of cheap crap from them that would be cheaper, if we can offered them free health care. When the Chinese pay for their health care costs, they pass those costs off to us. I'm saying, with ChinCare, we can do it for less.

One reporter brought up the failure of during the 1990s'. Obama was clear with his response, "Look, Hillary recently broke her elbow - she understands health care. The people who continue to oppose socialized medicine have never broken an elbow. She also broke a tibia or fibula once, but she doesn't remember which one."

(A call Clinton's office did not reveal which leg bone she broke. However, a spokesperson did confirm that she went through menopause sometime between Gennifer Flowers affair and Paul Jones affair. )

Yang Dong Wong, A Chinese farmer seemed excited about Obama's plan. "Ta ma nin Mie gou!" exclaimed Wong, as he smiled and pointed his middle finger westward.

On Abdul's qualifications to be Secretary of State, Obama praised her as being "one of the most widely recognized figures in reality television", citing her experience on the TV show 'American Idol'. "Paula's soft bitchiness on 'Idol' has made Simon a nicer person", said Obama.

Griselda Borgia, Co-chair of the Mezzo-Soprano League based in Newark, New Jersey, thought Abdul's appointment was long overdue. "For generations mezzo's have been given only minor roles in the opera and we've had no voice in Washington or world politics."

Obama will be holding town hall meetings to promote ChinCare starting next month. His stops will include Akron, Tianjin, Harrisburg, and the Yangtze River Delta. ABC News and China Central Television have agreed to simulcast the events.

The Minnesota senate recount if finally over and Al Franken* is now seated as a U.S. Senator. We now know who the "winner" is, but we'll never no who received the most votes.

What went wrong? There are two major issues that were never resolved.

Dozens of precincts had more votes than registered voters. These were primarily were in areas that were heavily Democratic.
Thousands of absentee ballots were tossed for technicalities. These technicalities are an important part of election law, and they were not uniformly enforced. In many blue counties, where Franken* had a 3-2 or better advantage, they weren't enforced at all. These counties allowed themselves to use discretion in following the law.

This brings us to Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie. Ritchie was first elected in 2006, after being endorsed by ACORN and all the major labor unions in the state. Ritchie ran on the DFL ticket and touted himself as a non-Partisan. (For non-Minnesotans, the Minnesota Democratic Party uses the term DFL: Democratic-Farmer-Labor)

During the recount Ritchie kept a low profile. In his few media appearances he kept repeating the mantra of "open and transparent." Fellow DFLers espoused the same thing in describing how the election recount was conducted.

To date, Ritchie has not explained why some precincts had more votes than voters. As of May ( after the case went to the Minnesota Supreme Court) the state wide voter registration roles had not been reconciled; they were off by 30,000. I'm not aware of any update to this figure.

Ritchie allowed the non-uniform method of counting absentee ballots to continued throughout the process, even though he was aware of problems early on. He failed to train judges in how to process absentee ballots before the election, and did nothing to mitigate the problem afterwards.

Franken* is in his office, and Ritchie needs to move out of his. He's up for re-election in 2010. The Minnesota GOP yesterday announced a new website: ritchiefacts.com

Keep in mind that the Franken*/Coleman recount isn't the only black cloud hanging over Ritchie's office. From his ties to ACORN to getting caught using his state office for campaign fundraising - Ritchie operates like a Chicago politician.

HRC is also a national organization that worked hard to get Democratic candidates like Barack Obama and Al Franken* elected. They have strong ties to ACORN and their website links to ACORN programs. The left wing activists groups continue to breed and multiply, and they all share the same socialism gene in their DNA.

Back to my phone call to the Washington D.C office of The Fund for the Public Interest. I learned that the jobs advertised do not offer health insurance. However, those working as directors in local offices do receive benefits. In summary, this non-profit group that is actively promoting socialized medicine, provides health care only for its upper echelon of employees.

Who do those people think they are, members of Congress? (Note to Nancy Pelosi: Ramming Cap and Tax down our throats doesn't look good when you commandeer a military jet to fly home to California)

As the President threw out the first pitch, amid a chorus of boos, the TV cameras were there to capture it. The only problem is that they didn't. The pitch fell short of St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols, but the camera panned away before this. According to new reports, Pujols had to reach in front of the plate to keep it from hitting the ground.

(No sound on the video, so you can't hear the boos. If I can find one with audio, I'll post it.)

Was Fox Sports instructed to pan away to keep from showing Obama having another gutter ball moment? As the cameraman follows the ball he deliberately cuts back to Obama just before the ball falls short of the plate. This was an odd angle to watch a pitch being thrown, regardless of who was on the mound.

Not much commentary from the booth announcers either. As Obama ran onto the field, they were silent as booing briefly filled Busch Stadium. When the lobbed pitch fell short as the camera panned away, they said nothing about the toss.

"At a hearing last week, National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters President James Winston told lawmakers that advertisers have severely cut investments in minority audiences at the same time minority broadcasters are having difficulty negotiating loan terms with banks."

Here is a tip for the members of NABOB. Change your business plan. Offer programming that appeals to a broader base of Americans. Money is not black. Money is green. If you're seeing a decrease in revenue, how does borrowing money change that? No one is going to borrow you money to throw down a rat hole, they expect to be paid back.

Here is another tip: The 14% African American audience is not a captive audience. Blacks are free to watch or listen to non-NABOB broadcast. It's all part of diversity.

"Economic and political empowerment in the African-American community cannot be achieved without access and control over the mass media resources that impact our lives and the world. NABOB is dedicated to creating opportunities for success for African-Americans in the telecommunications industry. "

Opinion: This Sounds like affirmative action. Mass media bends over backwards in promoting people of color. NABOB is asking for racial quotas.

NABOB is saying their members can't make a go of it, due to a lack of advertising. They also say there isn't enough minority ownership in the broadcasting business. From a supply and demand standpoint, this makes no sense at all.

If a few NABOB stations fall by the wayside, it will be a benefit for the stronger ones. The government should stay out of this, but perhaps NABOB member feel they help get Obama elected; asking for a payback, just like the unions are doing. It's all part of Obamanopoly, the object of the game is to be on the receiving end of the redistribution of wealth.

As the newest member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Al Franken has lawyered-up for the upcoming Sotomayor confirmation hearings.

Honestly, I've never seen a Supreme Court Justice candidate raise as many red flags as Sonia Sotamayor. From her decision on the Connecticut fire fighters to her membership in the "Latino KKK" (La Razza), many questions will be asked of Sotomayor this week. Maybe someone will ask her if she meant "wise latina" or "wide latina."

What is Angry Al going to ask? This past weekend he, while in Minnesota celebrating himself, he met with lawyers to help him prepare. "Franken gathered lawyers to help prepare him for the Sotomayor hearings. He says senators have been known to get long-winded on their questions, and he only wants to ask questions a normal person would want to hear the answer to."

Why does Franken* need to ask any questions at all. He already knows - barring new evidence suggesting she's an axe-murderer - he's going to vote to confirm her.

What's up with the coaching by attorneys? I can't yet find a video of the WCCO TV report, but I did catch it live. The video showed Franken* in a conference room with about 10 other people. Presumably, most or all of these people were the lawyers who were prepping him.

I want to know who these lawyers are and I'm going to try to find out. My hunch is that they are all Democrats who gave him money and voted for him. It's safe to say they all support Sotomayor as well. Republican questions are going are going to hit Sotamayor hard and heavy for her racist track record.

In watching the hearings this week, pay close attention to Angry Al. Is Franken* being long-winded or short-winded? How soft are the softball questions? Do they seek to get answer, or will they allow her to diffuse the answers Republicans are seeking? Are the questions Franken* asks his own words, or were they crafted by a team of lawyers?

Al Franken* had his own political radio show for three years. He was easy on liberals and bombastic with conservatives. I expect that Franken* will avoid any cross-examination questions that would force Sotamayor to defend any of her controversial positions. The advice he got from his attorney friends should help him in disguising his partisan praise of the Obama appointee.

It's unclear if Pepsi copied Obama, or Obama copied Pepsi. Neither Obama or Pepsi seem to be concerned. From a marketing standpoint it's a been a win-win for both, and others have jumped on the Obama/Pepsi logo scheme bandwagon.

The logo of US Airways is still the same, but been they've adding something strangely familiar to their marketing campaign. The logo now has an accessory!

The flag on the bottom is the US Airways logo. See any other logos? Hint: It's the red/white/blue curve. They have a straight red/white/blue line on many of their planes, but the Obama-esque curve is a recently added touch. President Dumbass

In his weekly radio address, President Obama says the stimulus package is working as intended.

No dumbass it isn't, at least not not as far as jobs are concerned. Obama announced earlier this year, that with the stimulus package, unemployment would cap out at 8%. It's now at 9.5% and last month the the economy lost almost one-half million jobs.

His stimulus package was fat on pork and thin on tax-cuts. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 dedicates only 37% of the nearly $800 billion dollar package to tax cuts, businesses get 6.5% and and individuals 30.1%. Virtually all of the tax cuts are either for one-time deductions, or a temporary reduction in rates.

Lump sum tax rebates have not shown to be very effective, outside of a temporary spike in spending. They simply don't have much effect going forward. Lowering tax rates on a temporary basis for low and middle class families was the the brunt of the Obama tax cuts. Temporary tax cuts help, but in reality don't do much for a forward looking, investor-driven economy.

Permanent tax cuts are the key. When corporations invest, they create jobs. They invest with the expectation of a return on investment. ROI is measured after taxes, not before. Does President Dumbass understand that?

Obama's stimulus gave 70% more to Medicaid than it did to tax cuts for business. It gave 20% more for "green energy". Why give the health care and renewable energy industries so much of the stimulus? It would have been far more effective to spend that money on tax cuts for all American Businesses, as we would have seen a better economic turn around at this point.

Corporate tax cuts, temporary and permanent, are the heart and soul of supply side economics. Spending money on health care for the poor or the environment is not - it just makes liberals feel good. Liberals hate supply-side economics because it works. The only arguments against it that it hasn't been proven supply-side policies increase revenue for the tax coffers. No one can argue that it doesn't create jobs, because it does.

I for one am tired of President Dumbass complaining that he "inherited this mess."

He was a Democratic member of a Democratically controlled Congress in 2007 and 2008. When Obama and the Democrats took control in January 2007, unemployment was 4.6% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was well over $12,000. The economy was in expansion.
If Obama had come into an economy with 3-4% annual growth, he wouldn't be using the term "inherited." He'd be taking personal credit.
In recent weeks, Obama has been scaring off business with his grandiose schemes for universal health care and cap and trade. This is a promise on Dumbass's part to create new taxes in the next one to two years. Investors has reacted and the DJIA has dropped 10% in the past month.
The stimulus bill gave money to groups like ACORN and Planned Parenthood. Obama's wish list of pork spending is not something he "inherited" for George W. Bush.
Bush was in office less than 8 months before the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The terrorist had been in the country planning the attacks for years. Bush didn't cry that this was something he "inherited. " Bush acted as a president should. He confronted the situation with complete certainty and without pointing fingers at his predecessor.

Maybe Obama says his stimulus package is working as expected because it has failed has failed has expected. Maybe it was never about getting the economy rolling and people working, it was only about creating a kinder, greener, more socialistic America.

This week marks the 5 month anniversary since the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was signed into law by Obama. It's not working and monthly job losses are predicted to remain through this year and into the next. President Dumbass now owns this economy, but don't expect him to acknowledge that anytime soon.

There were eleven Greenpeace activists arrested for this protest. They all should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The costs to the National Park service is already significant. Now taxpayers will foot the bill for prosecution, possible incarceration, and security improvements at the memorial. Local officials likely spent resources as well. The National Park Service and other agencies should sue Greenpeace for reimbursement of all costs.

MERCED, Calif. (AP) — The final price of the University of California, Merced's commencement ceremony featuring first lady Michelle Obama was more than $1 million — surpassing the original estimate tenfold.

Private contributions and interest on a private endowment fund have helped cover the cost. UC spokeswoman Patti Waid Istas said that nonstate dollars and other contributions will be used to cover the remaining balance of around $362,338.

The school had budgeted $100,000 for the May commencement ceremony. The price tag ended up being $1.04 million.

The address attracted about 12,000 visitors, requiring additional transportation, audiovisual and multimedia needs and other items. Obama was neither paid for her appearance nor compensated for travel and security.

Wasn't Hillary available? How about Pelosi or Schwarzenegger? UC Merced is a state college and the State of California is broke! I guess that's California's problem, except that the federal taxpayer is footing the bill for Mrs. Obama's travel and security.

So much for hope and change. Starting with the $200 million inauguration it has been all about movin' on up!

I have friends with little ones tell me how political children's television shows have become in recent years. From diversity to climate change, the kids are now being indoctrinated while still in diapers.

It was no shock when I came up on a YouTube video showing the Muppet's doing a rendition of "Stars and Stripes Forever. Sam the Eagle (the patriotic Muppet who was intentionally given the quality of narrow mindedness) starts out by saying, "World Wide Web? Is there way to put this on just the American part?" - equating patriotism with isolationism.

Sam begins citing the Preamble to the Constitution: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice", then Sam stumbles over the words before finishing with, "oh yes, and to keep the world safe from weirdos." The Constitution was written to keep us safe from weirdos? Nice message to send to the kids!

Sure this is entertaining for children, but educational on in an anti-American sort of way. Jim Henson must be rolling over in his grave

Later at a town hall meeting in Virginia, she proved him right. As we could've expected, those allowed to ask question were chosen before hand and attendees needed a ticket. Meet Debby Smith.

I'm not holding my breath that the main stream media will look as closely at Smith's story as they did Joe the plumber, but we should find out more in the coming days.

I watched the 90 minute ABC (Amazing Barack Corporation) News. It was a staged production with the audience handpicked by ABC, and an obvious attempt by the liberals at ABC to promote the Obama agenda for socialized medicine.

The program was well rehearsed and the questions were of the softball variety. As I watched, one questions stood out as actually challenging Obama's plan. Obama didn't answer it. Here's the first.

DR. ORRIN DEVINSKY, EPILEPSY SPECIALIST: Yes, in the past, politicians who have sought to reform health care have tried to limit costs by reducing
tests, access to specialists, but they've not been good at taking their
own medicine. When they or their family members get sick, they often
get extremely expensive evaluations and expert care.
If a national health plan was approved and your family participated,
and, President Obama, if your wife or your doctor became seriously ill,
and things were not going well, and the plan physicians told you they
were doing everything that reasonably could be done, and you sought out
opinions from some medical leaders and major centers, and they said
there's another option that you should -- should pursue, but it was not
covered in the plan, would you potentially sacrifice the health of your
family for the greater good of insuring millions? Or would you do
everything you possibly could as a father and husband to get the best
health care and outcome for your family?

OBAMA: Well, first of all, Doctor, I think it's a terrific
question, and it's something that touches us all personally, especially when
you start talking about end-of-life care.
As some of you know, my grandmother recently passed away, which was
a very painful thing for me. She's somebody who helped raise me.
But she's somebody who contracted what was diagnosed as terminal
cancer. There was unanimity about that. They expected that she'd have
six to nine months to live. She fell and broke her hip. And then the
question was, does she get hip replacement surgery, even though she was
fragile enough that they weren't sure how long she would last, whether
she could get through the surgery.
I think families all across America are going through decisions like
that all the time. And you're absolutely right that, if it's my family
member, it's my wife, if it's my children, if it's my grandmother, I
always want them to get the very best care.
But here's the problem that we have in our current health care
system, is that there is a whole bunch of care that's being provided
that every study, every bit of evidence that we have indicates may not
be making us healthier.

Would Obama sacrifice the health of his own family for the greater of insuring millions? Of course he wouldn't, and of course he won't admit that. The key word his sacrifice. He wants you to sacrifice, but he and members of Congress will still be getting the best of care.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has made itself into a household name in the past year, with definite links to voter fraud and the mortgage crisis. More recently they signed on to recruit workers for the 2010 census. That's a scary thought.

Last week, ACORN-International changed its name to Community Organizations International. It widely expected that ACORN's national and state branches in the U.S. will take on a similar rebranding.

House Speaker Nancy "Pork Queen" Pelosi visited Minnesota this weekend to raise money for First District Congressman Tim Walz.

The fundraiser was in Minneapolis, part of the Fifth District. The First District is Southern Minnesota. The First has historically been a red district - I'm thinking Walz didn't want to be caught dead with the unfavorable Pelosi on his home turf.

Did the Pork Queen come to Minnesota just to raise money for Walz? Not officially. As she was using the taxpayer funded military jet that is provided to her, she needed to come up with an official government purpose. She chose to visit a local beneficiary of 2009 congressional pork, a Native American job center in Minneapolis. The job center recently received $107,000 as part of the Obama pork-u-lus plan.

A conservative estimate would put the cost of Pelosi's travel at $50,000. Take the Walz fundraiser out of the equation and assume Pelosi traveled to Minnesota just to visit the Indian job center. That's $50,000 for Pelosi to spend an hour or so looking at a $107,000 pork project.

Today marks the fifth anniversary of the passing of Ronald Reagan - the greatest President this country has ever had.

Reagan did something no other President can claim, he won the cold war. That alone proved that Reaganomics did trickle down: We beat those Russian commies on an economic level. While the U.S. prospered, the U.S.S.R. faltered. By the time Reagan had left office, Mikhail Gorbachev had called for an end to the cold war, while the Soviet economy was imploding.

Liberals hated Ronald Reagan. The more popular Reagan became, the more the liberal mainstream media tried to blame him for homelessness and the AIDS epidemic. As Bernard Goldberg explains in "Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News"; if one were to form an opinion solely from TV network news, they would think that homelessness and the AIDS epidemic began the day Ronald Reagan was sworn into office and ended the day Bill Clinton was elected.

Fifteen years after he left office, Reagan died. The big three network news anchors at the time - Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, and Tom Brokaw - all objected to the amount of news coverage Reagan's death was receiving. Rather complained people were being distracted from the war in Iraq. Jennings compared the funeral procession to watching the O.J. Simpson chase. Brokaw kept his focus on "disenfranchised people" and "people of color who were not the beneficiaries of Ronald Reagan's administration."

The cable news networks maintained near continuous the week of Reagan's death. While CNN was willing to put aside its partisanship (although CNN's Wolf Blitzer did comment that mourners were "largely white") and compete for ratings with FOX - Rather, Jennings, and Brokaw were cognizant of the fact that the 2004 Presidential election was only five months away. They feared "too much" coverage would give George W. Bush a bump in the polls.

The media coverage of Reagan's funeral was a reminder of how much liberals hated him. Just one more reason for the rest of us to remember that he remains the greatest President of all time.

I caught the last couple of segments of the two-hour "Earth2100" last night on ABC. I didn't know what it was - it seemed like just some made-for-TV dramamentuary about global warming that the network had stuck into an empty time slot.

Then I saw the talentless ABC News Anchor Bob Woodruff and he began to speak. I thought it odd that Woodruff be doing a cameo appearance. The end of "EARTH2100" - which predicted the Earth will end by the year 2100 - brought my perplexity to an even higher level.

It turns out this was an ABC News Program. News? It was obvious that the people being interviewed weren't real people who were really being interviewed - they were really bad actors pretending to be interviewed.

Obama's Secret Weapon (Cap and Trade?)

It's now not enough for ABC news to preach global warming theory seven nights a week. They are producing global warming news with the aid of dramatic theatre. Walter Cronkite must be turning over in his grave.

Education Minnesota: Funding a Failure

About two years ago Tom Dooher was elected president of Education Minnesota. Shortly thereafter those annoying TV ads began.

I did notice earlier this year the absence of EDMN commercials, but they're back now. They started running them again a few weeks ago. We pay for those ads, along with all the lobbying efforts and campaign contributions makes on EDMN's own behalf. Teachers get their paychecks from taxpayers, EDMN takes their cut from those checks and what results is the largest political action group in the state.

When Tom Dooher speaks about providing a world class education, is he talking about private schools? Our public schools have world class budgets - but not world class results. Next time Obama goes on a world tour to apologize for the United States, he should mention how terribly inefficient we our in running our public school system.

Mr. Obama goes to New York ... for a date with Michele by way of Air Force One. He leaves behind a very large carbon footprint. The privilege of jets, helicopters, and limos - the Obama's are stlyin'! It's good to be the Prez!

As I read the various headlines and stories, I was looking for another reason for Obama to be in New York, besides having a night out with his wife that included dinner and a Broadway show. There isn't one.

According to Obama - "I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished,"

This could be the first campaign promise that Obama has honored. Being the gentleman that he is, I'm assuming he paid for the date - with taxpayer dollars.

I've no problem with a President wanting to get out of Washington for a time. When George W. Bush did it - he was criticized for "being on vacation again". The Kennedy Compound, The Reagan Ranch, Kennebunkport, Crawford Texas: All secure locations where Presidents could get out of Washington and enjoy a working vacation.

An overnight junket to New York? At taxpayers' expense, this was an opportunity for mainstream media to engage in a photo-op, following Barack and Michell around the same way they would the British Royal Family.

Some observations:

A few weeks ago, Obama made news when Air force One illegally flew into New York airspace for a photo-op with the Statue of Liberty in the foreground. Perhaps another Air Force One flight into New York would be ill-advised at this time.
Two weeks ago, Obama gave an ultimatum to the U.S auto industry to produce products that emit fewer carbon emissions. Firing up Air Force One and Marine One for a night on the town is not exactly an environmentally friendly gesture.

Recently Supreme Court Justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor hails from New York. This is probably just a coincidence ... or maybe it's not.

Where should Obama establish his own "compound" away from the White House? Chicago seems to be the logical choice. Maybe at the home of Billy Ayers!

One headline reads Obama pays first visit to New York since inauguration‎. He paid a visit, but we paid for that visit. Can you imagine if Bill Clinton had flown to New York for his dates?

It's the weekend and a good time for Obama do make a foolish move without an immediate response from talk radio.

Jane Roe Says No To Sotomayor

Norma McCorvey, aka Jane Roe of Roe v. Wade, has asked Democratic Senators Ben Nelson (NE) and Bob Casey (PA) to join Republicans in a filibuster to block the appointment of Sonia Sotomayor to the United State Supreme Court.

"Because the Obama administration is committed to the slaughter of children in utero - and this Supreme Court nominee reflects that intention - I appeal to your heart: filibuster Sonia Sotomayor, and do everything you can to overturn Roe v. Wade."

McCorvey joined the pro-life movement about 15 years ago and has even testified before Congress as to the atrocities of abortion. Nelson and Casey are the most out spoken critics of abortion among Democrats in the Senate.

I've yet to read anything that puts Sotamayor into the pro-abortion crowd. What I do know is that Obama would not have named her if he didn't have some assurance that she wouldn't vote to overturn Roe. V. Wade.

When Obama picked Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of Health and Human Services - he knew damn well he chose someone who had the Planned Parenthood seal of approval. On his third day in office, Obama reversed an executive policy that prevented federal funding to be used for abortion. The pro-abortion group NARAL endorsed Obama over Hillary Clinton in the primaries, allowing him to garner much needed support among white women. Obama owes NARAL.

At the moment, NARAL is offering tentative support of Sotomayor. This could just be posturing, so as to not look too excited aout the announcement. If and when Sotomayor is confirmed, watch for NARAL to issue a 100% approval of the newest Supreme Court Justice.

Say no to gay marriage!

Proposition 8 is upheld by the California Supreme Court and the will of the people is allowed to stand. You know the court wanted to overturn it - they even said as much. But what could the court do - overturn a constitutional amendment that was approved by 53% of the voters?

I wouldn't have been shocked if they did - The California Supreme Court has always been an activist bunch. The ironic part, is that Prop 8 would have never materialized if it wasn't for this same activist court. In 2008, the court ruled that a legislative ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. The only way to trump the court was by way of constitutional amendment; a citizen petition began and the required number of signatures were gathered - forcing the statewide vote.

(Prop 8 was upheld by a 6-1 vote. The lone dissenter was Justice Carlos Roberto Moreno. Moreno was reported to be the only male among Obama's final six candidates to replace Justice David Souter on the United States Supreme Court.)

A constitutional ban on gay marriage in Minnesota won't come by way of a grassroots petition - the constitution does not allow for this. For an amendment to appear on the ballot in Minnesota, a simple majority of both the House and Senate must approve it. Theoretically, the State Constitution could be "revised" through a constitutional convention - but that's not likely a scenario that will ever occur.

A proposal for a gay marriage amendment would have the support of most Republican legislators, but very few Democrats. A gay marriage ban is favored by much of out-state Minnesota. The soonest an amendment could appear on a statewide ballot would be 2010. For that to happen rural voters will need to put the heat on their DFL legislators to approve a ballot initiative that would constitutionally define marriage as: one man - one woman.

Rural DFL legislators have been reluctant to do this in the past - fearing that such an amendment would increase voter turnout for Republicans - and they will be reluctant in the future. It's only a matter of time before an activist court in Minnesota forces us to allow gay marriage. That just might force a legislative call for a constitutional amendment to be placed on the ballot.

The best way for a no-name writer to turn into a best-selling author is to get endorsed by Oprah's Book Club. I came upon this "column" at a blog called Campusnuts.com - my favorite part is this observation:

"During the Red Scare, people were branded communists based on what they read, and Hitler recognized the power of literature and focused much of the Nazi effort on censorship; so clearly, at least according to history, what people read has an effect on their social and political views. I'm not saying that Oprah is Hitler or McCarthy - I'm saying she's both of them combined. "

With Democrats like Nancy Pelosi in control of Washington, there are increasingly more cries from the left to bring back the Fairness Doctrine . The goal would be to shut down the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. I don't think we'll ever see the day that The Oprah Winfrey Show ever discusses a book written by Glen Beck.

Coming Soon: Anti-Strib 2.0

If you never read the blog Anti-Strib you're not alone. But I could also say that about any blog.

Anti-Strib has had a strong following and I was surprised to read a few days ago that they were calling it quits. The final post was made by mastermind il duce' shortly after midnight friday, entitled: "Sayonara Suckers!" (il duce' made another final post few hours later)

In both of his final posts, il duce' promised Anti-Strib 2.0, but without a release date. While version 2.0 can't possibly be better - it can't possibly be worse.

The only good way to describe Anti-Strib is to have someone read it and and peruse the archives. If you don't enjoy sophomoric antics and profanity you probably wouldn't like Anti-Strib; it just so happens I enjoy sophomoric antics and profanity.

The catalyst for Anti-Strib was frustration with the StarTribune and it's journalistic bigotry.

"I started this a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (Santa Clara County) with a simmering rage at the Red Star for ignoring me and over ½ of Minnesota. (Tim Pawlenty is our governor) - il duce'

While Anti-Strib almost always failed in the politically-correct category , they often succeeded in offering sound and honest commentary. At times they were under attack from both the left and right.

Anti-Strib has many contributors and you know what they say about too many cooks in the kitchen - it causes cancer in laboratory rats.

In his typical tell-it-like-it-is style, il duce' pulls the plug on Anti-Strib with this

"I don’t have time for this, I really don’t need this and at times I don't even want it, but sometimes things just need to be done. (you artists should at get that part)

So watch this space for the Anti-Strib 2.0. Re-booted, Re-vamped, yet still reviled. I’ll be back, stronger, meaner, tougher and with much more ammo. The left hasn’t won, nor has the jelly spined "moderate right". I just decided to change the game and up-end the existing apple cart.

No fear, no apologies, no explanations, no regrets. No shit!"

I have no doubt that Anti-Strib 2.0, will be just as successful as the Bronco II !

Cap-and-Trade: The New Federal Tax

It's coming. Cap-and-Trade is coming. HR 2454 , known as the Waxman-Markey American Clean Energy and Security Act, was passed in House committee and it's moving fast ahead.

This bill is nothing but an excuse to create a new tax - with global warming hysteria as a backdrop - by charging fees on carbon emissions. Public utilities, which are about 35% of the actual tax base, will likely get a free pass. Democrats realize that any tax on utilities will be passed onto customers, but they don't realize that most any tax gets passed onto customers.

Not necessarily by coincidence, as the bill was debated this week, MIT announced a new study that "doubled" their prior prediction of doom and gloom. The geniuses at MIT used a roulette wheel as their scientific basis. Really ...

When an earlier version of this bill was presented in 2007, Heritage.org advised us to "Beware of Cap and Trade Climate Bills." If the Democrats in Washington truly believe that global warming presents a grave risk, why don't they start a discussion on building nuclear power plants?
